About our centre

Welcome to Goodstart Early Learning Magill - Penfold Road.

We have six rooms, nurturing babies in our Nursery, through to adventurous toddlers and inquisitive 3-5-year-olds in Preschool. We also have plenty of outdoor space for nature play. Why not take a tour?

We're nestled in a great location, two minutes from Magill Primary School.

Our people live for the work that they do and go the extra mile to support families.  

Most educators have been with us for many years. Several have celebrated 10 years at our centre. They add rich culture to children's lives, with the ability to speak English, Mandarin, Hindi, Sri Lankan (Sinhala), and Russian. 

We have two Bachelor qualified Preschool teachers, and our Assistant Director is also currently studying for her degree. 

Our welcoming centre is well maintained and designed with spacious rooms and natural lighting. A mixture of furniture reflects a Hampton's-style home-like environment. Neutral colours and carefully positioned play areas create an environment to inspire learning for all ages.  

The beautiful outdoor dining hub provides a dedicated space for meals. Our onsite kitchen with child-height servery allows our cook to serve and engage children in preparing food.

Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.

Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.

We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

We work closely with parents to ensure the individual needs, interests and strengths of the children are considered, developing learning goals to reflect the same. Using Storypark, a wonderful communication platform, we stay in close touch with families and ensure they are well informed about their children’s development and achievements.

My daughter has been attending this daycare for over a year now, and I cannot recommend it enough! The staff are incredibly caring, thoughtful, and engaging. They go above and beyond to support my child's positive learning and development, social connections with her peers, and comfort level in the place. She started to attend from 8 months of age and loves every minute of her time there! The educators and staff are amazing, and just bring an ethos of family and care that is hard to see in other places. We receive daily photos and updates so that we can keep in touch with all the great activities and programs that our child is engaged in- this is so reassuring when being away from them. At the end of the day we also receive a comprehensive report on how much (and what) they ate, slept, pooped, and played with others. I always feel so confident in the knowledge that my daughters learning and development is being encouraged, whilst receiving caring and thoughtful support from her trusted educators.

We really love Goodstart Magill - Penfold Road. My son (2 yrs) and daughter (5 mths) both attend the centre. Both children began when they were just 4 months of age. The educators there made us feel so welcomed and safe. Both our children thoroughly enjoyed and still enjoy there experience at this service as it provides them with an array of different age and stage appropriate learning experiences, social interactions with similar aged children, and educators who work closely with you and your child to make sure they have the best experience possible and are cared for how you would care for them at home. What my wife and I really liked is when we first enrolled our children the admin staff gave us a phone call to let us know how they were doing on their first few days. We also look forward to the updates on Storypark we receive each day as we can see what our children are learning. The educators also communicate face to face with us at the end of each day to let us know how they were, what they’ve eaten, how long they slept for, and how many wet/soiled nappies they’ve had throughout the day. We couldn’t ask for more kind and caring staff. We all absolutely love it here.

Hi, my name is Lucy John and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Magill - Penfold Road.

I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and have worked as a Teacher since graduating university. I have worked at this centre since the beginning of 2019 as a Teacher, have been the Educational Leader since 2020, the Assistant Director since 2021, and have now stepped into the Centre Director role with an abundance of knowledge that I have gained along the way. I have a child who attends this centre so I am lucky enough to see the centre from both perspectives, as a Director and as a parent.

Children and families are our number one priority here at Goodstart. We are fortunate enough to have a hardworking, passionate and consistent team at our centre, who are continually striving to keep up-to-date with best practice and evolve our pedagogy for the benefit of the children and their development.
