Goodstart Sunbury Ligar Street

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Sunbury - Ligar Street caters for children from six weeks to five years. . We are close to the train station, shopping complex and leisure and aquatics centre.

We maintain consistency among our staff, with the majority having worked at the centre for more than two years – and some for almost a decade! Several of our educators are bi- or multi-lingual, and speak additional languages such as Hindi.

All of our rooms from nursery to kindergarten are set-up in line with the Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning. Our strong relationships with children and their families, enables us to tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre. 

Our outdoor play area was specially designed to encourage interaction between the children, and utilises natural materials wherever possible. Many of the plants were planted by the children, who play a large role in their upkeep and care. 

We embrace environmental sustainability and this is embedded into our programs, teaching the children to respect and enjoy nature both at the centre and at home.
 
 Our qualified cook, provides fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for the children each day. The centre provides all meals during the day, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. 

Our centre maintains strong community connections, liaising with local businesses, other Goodstart centres, Hume City Council and Library, and inclusion support services. Each year we look forward to participating in the Sunbury Fair.
 

Maintaining communication with our families is very important, and we regularly send email updates on centre events. Our Storypark platform, as well as Facebook posts, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. 

We also have a large whiteboard in the foyer which we use to communicate which educator is in each room, along with their photograph and shift times. Each room creates a ‘what happened in our room today’ print out which is placed in the foyer. This assists families in keeping up with what experiences their children are engaging in and opens up discussions on what learning is occurring.
