About our centre

We are pleased to advise you that Goodstart Early Learning Moree has achieved a rating of "Exceeding" in all seven quality areas as of June 2023!

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Moree is located in the centre of a small rural farming community. Close to the local schools and community facilities as well as shops.

Being part of a farming community enables the children to experience nature first hand and gives us opportunity to foster environmental awareness. This is reflected through our stimulating, nurturing and educational programs.

Our play based curriculum is based on the Early Years’ Learning Framework and our rooms – from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool – are all geared with this in mind. We develop engaging programs accounting for each child’s individual interests, needs and strengths, and have a problem solving approach reflected in our programs to encourage higher order thinking and a curiosity for learning.

This is made simpler through our intuitive Storypark platform, which enables us to maintain consistent and clear communications with families. That means we are better placed to support a child in their learning journey, ensure parents have peace of mind, and time stamp the children’s developments, milestones and achievements.

Outside, our playground areas are a balance of natural and manmade elements and play surfaces – with sandpits, mud and dirt areas for digging, access to water, flower gardens, vege patches, areas for physical play, a boat and lots of shade. We have carefully designed and planned spaces to encourage a stronger understanding of the environment and sustainability – while giving children the scope to explore, play and let their imaginations roam.

We also have a cook at the centre providing tasty and nutritious meals for the children when tummies start to growl. Our menu has been formed in consultation with our families and with Hunter New England Health, who have approved both our Winter and Summer menu.

At Goodstart Moree we're proud of the cultural diversity within our centre. Our community is the second largest indigenous community in NSW, therefore it is important our children are encouraged to participate in activities relating to cultural diversity, acceptance and gender equality. Our centre is located on the land of the Gamilaroi people, the second largest nation in our country. We have developed our own centre Acknowledgment of Country with the children and everyday all of our rooms say this with the children. We are currently working on our Reconciliation Action Plan incorporating the voices of our children, Educators, parents and community in this process. We have just finished our centre mural which is representative of our community Moree – the Gamilaroi word for Moree has two meanings, waterhole and sunrise, and our mural represents these meanings.

Our centre has highly qualified staff – three Early Childhood Teachers, above 50% of Diploma Qualified and two currently working towards their Bachelor of Education. Our centre has embedded Key Educator Relationships where our educators consistently work at developing and maintaining caring and nurturing relationships with their key children. This commences at enrolment which involves a carefully planned orientation experience all the way through to leaving us to commence the journey into school.

A major focus for our centre is how working with the broader community can help us enrich the children’s learning experience. Through visits to the centre as well as excursions and participation in community events, we are able to deepen the relationship between the centre and the community, while teaching the children about being a contributing and active member of society.

Goodstart Moree families participate in celebrating special events at the centre such as Mothers Day and Fathers Day, Science Week and Book Week, and our Graduation day. We also celebrate multicultural events such as Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day, Easter, NAIDOC Week and many others relevant to the children that attend our service.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family. Come in and take a look around, meet the team and explore how we can support your early learning journey.

Lauren Kinchela

Centre Director

My name is Lauren Kinchela and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Moree. I was born and raised in Moree and left to undertake study in 1998. I attended Macquarie University and completed my Bachelor of Education in ECE in 2001. I started working as a teacher for Education Qld in 2002 working with prep and grade one children for 12 years.

I returned to Moree in 2014 where I commenced work as a teacher and the Educational Leader at Goodstart Moree. I have been fortunate enough to take on the centre leadership role and hope to continue to provide the community with quality Early Childhood Care.

I believe relationships are the key to great learning outcomes, which cannot be achieved without a partnership with parents and carers, and nurturing and understanding of our children.
