Together with the City of Sydney three new Goodstart Early Learning centres will open in Sydney during the next few months, offering more than 200 childcare places for families.
Built by the City of Sydney and operated by Goodstart, the Huntley Street Early Learning Centre was recently launched by Lord Mayor Clover Moore and will help meet the demand of affordable quality childcare in the inner city.
The purpose-built centre is expected to open its doors in September and features a sand pit, bike track, water play and vegetable patches in its large landscaped outdoor play area.
Inside are five playrooms, all with access to outdoor play and it will cater for 80 children, aged six weeks to five years old.
Huntley Street centre director Sharon Harb, who brings a wealth of experience to the job, said she was very excited to be joining the Goodstart team, and managing the brand new centre.
“It’s a beautiful new centre and has been purpose-built which means everything has been designed with children in mind – from the low benches to the sinks and tables,” Ms Harb said.
“We’ve got solar panels on the roof, a water pump to the mud area where children can play, and it’s all open plan and fresh.”
Ms Harb has worked in early learning centre environments for many years, including 12 with the City of Sydney. A Sydney local, she is looking forward to sharing her positivity and knowledge with families in the area.
Two other centres built by the City of Sydney and operated by Goodstart will also open their doors in coming months.
The East Sydney Early Learning Centre at 277 Bourke Street Darlinghurst, will launch on July 30 and the Crescent Early Learning Centre in Annandale launches on August 6 with both expected to open September.
