Children from Goodstart Wagga Wagga Morgan Street have taken their love and books and literacy to the great outdoors.
The children from Goodstart Early Learning Wagga Wagga Morgan St will be visiting Collins Park regularly to read a book, then do a creative art activity to build on what they learned in the story.
Centre director Veronica Scott said early exposure to reading by caregivers and parents was key to development.
“Children who fall in love with the experience of reading when they’re young are likely to enjoy it when they’re older too. Early exposure to books, typically through being read to by a parent, grandparent, or other care-giver, instils in children a sense of security and warmth.”
Ms Scott said she believed literacy should be available to all young children regardless of culture, education or socio economics, and has extended the invitation to all local children through a story in the community newspaper and signage in the park.
