A major playground renovation complete with timber huts, a sandpit, blackboard art wall and raised deck and planter boxes will be revealed at Goodstart Claremont on April 2.
The work has included a new internal paint job and a playground renovation representing a total investment of $220,000 – a significant upgrade for the non-for-profit centre which provides quality learning and care for 75 children.
The toddler yard has timber huts, a new sandpit, blackboard art wall, a raised deck and planter boxes with a new feature slide and other features such as cobblestone paving, stepper logs, natural and synthetic turf and a digging patch.
The kindergarten yard has also been revamped and has a new open cubby, reading nook, mud kitchen, curved footbridge and a log climbing feature, as well as many other features designed to encourage children’s creativity and independence.
“Our new playground areas will support children’s developmental needs while expanding their play-based learning experiences in a completely fresh and stimulating way,” Claremont centre director Sharon McGowan said.
“The design team has put so much thought and creativity into the design to ensure it will allow children to explore and learn while encouraging their independent and social play and helping to develop their physical and gross motor skills,” she said.
A new community garden area has been installed as part of the upgrade, which features all new garden beds, selected native Tasmanian plants, a chicken hutch, a buddy shed and rain water tank.
“It was important for us to include a focus on natural elements and sustainability so we can teach children about the importance of protecting and nurturing our precious environment,” Ms McGowan said.
“It’s a very exciting time for the centre and we are so excited to showcase our new playground to the wider community.”
Local developer and construction company Logic Build Tasmania is helping to bring the purpose-built playground design to life.
