Twilight markets come to Goodstart Glasshouse Mountains

Goodstart centres

Homemade soaps, shower gel and mermaid tails were all on offer when the team from Goodstart Early Learning Glasshouse Mountains held their first twilight market recently.

The centre opened their doors to the eight exhibitors who were Goodstart educators, parents and community members.

Centre director Carla Schultz said the market was all in the name of supporting the local community.

“A few of our families make things at home, such as soaps, art and craft and pottery, and sell them at markets including those at Eumundi and Caboolture,” Ms Schultz said.

“We had some conversations about how expensive the stall fees were and people were saying they were looking at other options so we came up with the idea of running markets out of the centre."

Off to a flying start

“We don’t charge a fee and ended up with eight stalls on our first night which was Friday, March 17, from 7-9pm. Some of our staff members held stalls as well, selling products like mermaid blankets and homemade shampoos and conditioner.”

Ms Schultz said the event was organised in just two weeks but that about 25 customers came along.
“We consider that a great success so we’ll definitely be doing it again and next time we’ll serve hot food as well.”

She said the events would showcase the centre to the community.

“We are very community orientated and like to encourage great relationships with our families, local schools, sporting clubs and the businesses that are around our centre and this encourages that.”

The next twilight market will be held in May.
