Community spirit alive at Goodstart Hillside

Goodstart centres

Goodstart Hillside came alive on Saturday 17 September, as they hosted a market day filled with fun activities for families and children in the local community.

The market offered children with lots play experiences including a jumping castle, playing with sand, climbing the outdoor fort, and arts and craft. There was also food and coffee on offer for visitors, thanks to the local business who also set up stalls.

Goodstart Hillside centre director Diana Aquilina said the market day, which was a first for the centre, was a huge hit.

“The market was designed to bring local residents and visitors to the centre for food, fun and memories,” Ms Aquilina said.

“We spoke to businesses within our community to see if they would be interested in getting involved with our market day, and were amazed with the response we got.

“We had over 30 stalls at our market which included food and coffee vans, a jumping castle, cake and lolly stalls, and heaps more,” she said. We also had lots of different activities that kept the children entertained for hours.”

“I am delighted that so many people came down and joined in on the day.  It was great getting to know and work with all the small businesses in our community.”

“It was also a great opportunity for families that were looking for care to meet the educators and check out the fantastic educational programs we offer,” Ms Aquilina said.

“We received lots of positive comments about the market from families. While it took a lot of preparation to set up the market day, we’ll look to do it again next year.”
