Quality early learning with a difference at Lane Cove

Goodstart centres

So much happens in a child’s first five years.

It is in this time that 80 per cent of brain development occurs, making it so important that children have the opportunity to access quality early learning programs to helps them build the social-emotional, language and thinking skills they need to succeed.

And that is exactly what families can expect for their child at Goodstart Lane Cove, an early learning centre committed to creating an exceptional program with a range of diverse, fun play-based learning experiences that allow children to thrive.

Centre director Nathan Quinlan, who holds a Bachelor of Teaching in early childhood education, says it is shaping up to be a particularly exciting year ahead for children attending the centre.

“Our qualified educators design and deliver a program of activities for each individual age group to support and foster a child’s awareness of self-identity, supports their ability to develop positive relationships and a sense of wellbeing, and inspires a love for learning from a young age. We do this in a safe and nurturing environment where every child’s unique interests and needs are taken into consideration,” Mr Quinlan said.

“This year we are excited to be introducing many exciting new activities to complement our daily program, including a ‘Happy Feet’ music and dance program, a dedicated sports program to help children develop their gross motor skills, Spanish classes, story time in Lane Cove community green spaces, a weekly mini Masterchef cooking experience, and a focus on sustainability through teaching children how to tend to our worm farm and vegetable gardens in our outdoor learning space.”

Throughout the year, children are also encouraged to become active citizens of their community through monthly library visits and other community excursions including visiting the local aged care facilities and other local businesses such as the supermarket, and even a special walking adventure across the Harbour Bridge.

“These experiences help children to understand and connect with the world around them. At Goodstart, we also integrate technology into our program to support learning and prepare children to be confident innovators and creators through the use of smart boards to deliver learning lessons.

“We are passionate about creating a holistic learning experience for children to set them up for school and life beyond,” he said.

Families in the community are invited to attend a parent information evening on February 23 at 6.30pm where they will be able to find out about the programs on offer at the centre. To register, families should contact the centre on 9418 7011, or drop in any time. The centre is located at 17 Austin Street in the heart of Lane Cove.

Goodstart Lane Cove is a 59-place centre, and caters for children aged from two to five years old and features spacious learning environments both inside and out, offering an abundance of learning tools across two large classrooms and two well-shaded yards.
