Goodstart celebrates grand opening of Adelaide Street

Goodstart centres

It was a busy week for Goodstart’s largest centre with the doors flung open so the Brisbane public could gain an insight into the impressive Adelaide Street environments.

On Wednesday (Oct 11) Queensland State Manager Lesley Jones officially opened Goodstart Adelaide Street, which has already achieved its 12-month attendance goals in the three months since first welcoming children and families.

A small group of children joined Lesley and Centre Director Pam Zagami to cut the ribbon in front of invited guests.
A few days earlier, the centre welcomed hundreds of people who took a behind-the-scenes tour of Adelaide Street as part of the Brisbane Open House festival.

The free community event celebrates Brisbane’s unique cityscape and opens the doors of public and private buildings for architecture and heritage enthusiasts, as well as just curious visitors.

Goodstart Adelaide Street is in the iconic, heritage-listed ‘Broadway on Adelaide’ building, which overlooks the Queen Street Mall.

The architecturally-designed centre spans the entire level two of the building and has a private rooftop kindergarten playground which offers children a natural oasis in the heart of the city and opens up a whole new world of play-based learning.

The centre has separate, age-based learning and play spaces for children from six weeks to five years.

Facilities include an onsite chef creating fresh and nutritious meals, a stunning atrium design with fans and louvered windows allowing natural air flow throughout, herb and vegetable gardens, bamboo tepees, a tree house with slide, spider web climber and tunnels.
