Goodstart Wonthella open community library

Developing early literacy skills is so important to a child’s outcomes in later life, and one of the best ways to develop these important life skills is through reading.

Goodstart Wonthella has taken an active role in boosting early literacy levels in their community, and has just celebrated the opening of their community library with the support of Dymocks Children’s Charities.

The aim of the library is simply to encourage local families to read with their children, which compliments the work being done by the centre’s educators.

Centre Director Danielle Waterson is excited about offering families a greater opportunity to read at home.

“Many of our parents have busy schedules and might not get the chance to visit a library. Having one here is so convenient for them,” she said.

“The simple act of reading aloud to children makes a huge difference in their ability to not only read in later life, but also to communicate effectively and understand information.

“These are essential skills for nearly all forms of employment in adult life and we’re proud to contribute to this in our community.”
