About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre South Innisfail Mourilyan Road is located close to town and schools, making the daily drop-off and pick-up stress free and simpler!

The childcare centre backs onto a quite block with views of mountains and cane paddocks. A lovely land breeze flows through children’s yards and rooms.

Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.

Our Story park platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Outside, we have three areas all with age-appropriate play spaces and equipment. With a large natural space with digging patches, a sandpit, mulch area, children's vegetable patch and garden area, a shaded gazebo, there are many opportunities for the children to explore and use their imaginations while learning about the environment and sustainability.

Educators at the centre regularly attend professional development trainings and hold or are studying for the relevant qualification for their position. All educators bring their own special talents or knowledge to the service that contributes to the centre’s atmosphere. Many of the centre’s educators have been at the centre since it opened in 2003.

Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we are able to enrich the learning experience. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.

Belinda Peterson

Centre Director

Hello! My name is Belinda, and I am proud to be the Centre Director here at Goodstart South Innisfail.

With over 13 years of experience in the childcare sector and all of these 13 years here at Goodstart South, including 3 years as the Centre Director at this service, I am passionate about creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for children and families.

Having lived in North Queensland for more than a decade, I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching and have had the privilege of working with all age groups. Throughout my career, I’ve embraced roles such as Educational Leader, where I focused on fostering child development in all its aspects.

At Goodstart South Innisfail, I am committed to providing a warm, comfortable, and relaxed learning environment where children and parents alike feel a sense of belonging. Together, we work to create a family atmosphere where every child thrives.
