A mud kitchen, digging patch, cubby house, vegetable garden and worm farm are all features of playground renovation at Goodstart Hope Valley in South Australia.
The centre is celebrating on April 8 with a morning of indoor and outdoor activities for children, a meet and greet with educators and a centre tour.
The $300,000 nature-inspired upgrade also includes natural landscaping, compost, and big trees where children can sit and tell stories in the shade.
Centre director said Katice Martin said the staff were excited to showcase their new playground renovation to the community.
“Our new outdoor learning environment was designed with a focus on natural materials and environments that encourage the children to explore and use their imaginations. It’s been a great hit with children who love exploring all the new natural elements,” Ms Martin said.
“We believe every child deserves to thrive in an early learning setting that provides an exciting and magical place where they can explore, discover, experience, experiment, and have fun,” she said.
The centre offers lots of play-based learning programs to ensure children learn all the skills they need to set them up for a confident start to school life.
“We have a culturally diverse team who provide an excellent and varied program which includes a soccer and dance program, multicultural events, bush walks and weekly excursions to the local library and nursing home.”
The open day will be held at Goodstart Hope Valley, 1178-1180 Grand Junction Road Hope Valley, on Saturday, April 8, from 9am to 11am. All families are welcome and there will be a sausage sizzle, balloon artist, face painting and activities for children. The centre director, kindergarten teacher and early childhood educators will be there to answer any questions.
