More affordable childcare in 2023

Government and sector

Some states and territories are improving the subsidies available to families in 2023 to help reduce the cost of care. See below for further information about what's on offer in your state.

Victoria

Under the Best Start, Best Life program, the Victorian Government has promised to fund 15 hrs of preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds from next year, providing $2,000 per child to reduce out of pocket costs, in addition to the Child Care Subsidy. Read more about the Best Start, Best Life program

New South Wales

The NSW Government has confirmed it will provide up to $2110 in fee relief for all children that choose to attend their preschool program at Goodstart from 2023.

This additional funding is on top of the existing child care subsidy and could mean an extra $40 per week in families' pockets. Read more about the 2023 Start Strong for Long Day Care program guidelines.

Queensland

The Kindy for All program is a new affordability subsidy to reduce the cost of kindy for Queensland families.  If you are an eligible family and receive the Family Tax Benefit, The Queensland Government will reduce your out-of-pocket costs for your long day care 600-hour kindy program by $500 per year.

Further subsidies and financial support are also available for eligible families. Your centre manager will be able to help you identify the support available to you. Queensland kindergarten funding
