Scholarships and financial support*

The Queensland Government are offering new scholarships and subsidies for early childhood professionals in Queensland. These are designed to help early childhood practitioners to upgrade qualifications, open up career pathways, and thrive in the sector.

Early Childhood Practicum Placement Grant*

Eligible students in early childhood undergraduate or postgraduate programs can receive up to $5,000 for their final practicum placement in an approved kindergarten program. This grant is available for those not currently employed in the sector and completing a minimum 15-day placement in a long day care or sessional kindergarten.

This $5,000 grant aims to ease the financial burden and support future early childhood professionals.

Qualifications Pathways Program*

Goodstart is proud to be a proud scholarship provider in the Qualifications Pathways Program (QPP). The QPP offers scholarships with comprehensive mentoring to help early childhood educators advance their qualifications.

Through the QPP, educators can pursue certificate III, diploma, bachelor, or graduate diploma levels (approved early childhood teaching qualifications), addressing the critical need for qualified professionals in the sector.

Practicum Placement Scheme*

The Practicum Placement Scheme (PPS) pilot will cover wages for educators completing placements as they progress toward becoming early childhood teachers.

In 2024, "Working Towards" educators with a department-approved "exceptional circumstance" who haven’t yet completed their early childhood degree can access paid practicums through this scheme.
