Welcome to Goodstart Carrum Downs - Frankston Dandenong Road!

We're your home away from home on Bunurong country, caring for and educating children up to school age.

We have six learning spaces: two serene and nurturing nurseries for our youngest learners, two toddler rooms for adventurous explorers aged 2-3, and two classrooms for three- and four-year-old kindergarten.

You'll find us in a convenient location, easily accessible by car or public transport. We're within walking distance from The Local Village shops and Carrum Downs Shopping Centre, near Banyan Fields Primary School. Why not take a tour and let us show you around our renovated centre?

From nursery to kindergarten, we aim to provide a learning environment that supports and nurtures each child's unique needs, interests, and strengths.

We believe in forming strong partnerships with parents and caregivers. We celebrate diverse backgrounds and foster a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Our enriching programs include incursions from Banyan Fields Primary School, music sessions, and the dentist, about which we send families a report.

We also plan excursions, including weekly aged care visits and trips to the primary school through a buddy program. We take the children to our local library, Bunnings, and a swimming program for four-year-old kindergarteners. 

There are many ways in which our people give back. Families can access our community wardrobe, which we stock with donations. We encourage families to give clothes, shoes, books, toys, and bibs that they don't use.

We also have a community pantry for new groceries, nappies, and wipes and a community library, where we rotate the books each week. When we have leftover meals, we give them to our families through a community noticeboard.

Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners. 
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. 
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators. 
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our three and four-year-old kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.

Yovana Minien

Centre Director

Hi, my Name is Yovana and I am the Centre Director for Goodstart Frankston- Dandenong Road, Carrum Downs.

Since 2008, when I moved from Mauritius, I have been working in the Early Childhood Industry. I have my advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and bring in a wealth of knowledge to support the children, families and Educators.

I have grown my career and had been involved in many different roles in the centre environment. My passion and vision is what motivates me to continuously improve. I believe that all children should have access to a high quality early education to ensure the fundamentals are laid for their life of learning.

My vision is to ensure that all families and children are supported and feel safe, secure and supported while at Goodstart. As a mum myself I understand the importance of finding that perfect place for your little one - one that inspires, is respectful, fun and supportive.

I look forward working with you and your family, along with my wonderful team of highly educated and passionate educators and see how we can get started on this learning journey together.
