About our centre

Welcome to Goodstart Burton!

You’ll find us on Springbank Boulevard, close to public transport, local shops, and schools. We also have a beautiful park next door where we take the children on excursions.

Our smaller early learning centre has an 84-child capacity across four nurturing spaces. We have a nursery for babies up to age 2, toddler room for 2-3-year-olds, and two preschool classrooms split into ages 3-4 and 4-5. Each class offers a unique space based on the children’s interests, with personalised touches from our educators.

Why not take a tour and see for yourself? Our team would love to meet you and fill you in on our offering.

Here’s some of what makes our centre special:

  • Two qualified teachers and an educator studying for her bachelor’s degree in teaching
  • Dedicated and consistent centre team including our core educators and cook
  • Consistent staff hours, so you’ll always see the same familiar face
  • Dancing incursions through Happy Feet and playground excursions
  • Equipped to welcome all children, with a huge focus on inclusion

Parent Testimonial - Jessica

Discover why families love our renovated centre. We are proud to employ vibrant and diverse staff who enrich children’s lives through play-based learning. Our enthusiastic educators go above and beyond to make each child feel included and provide the social and emotional support they need.

We have many longstanding staff with over 10 years of experience and several who are fresh from study, eager to learn, and love working with children. Each team member is trained to the standard that our centre strives to maintain on an individual level. We welcome new ideas and are always up to date on best practices.

At Goodstart Burton, we believe in play-based learning and sensory activities for all ages. Our staff plan intentional learning experiences while embracing spontaneous opportunities that emerge from the children’s interests. This way, we nurture their curiosities and lay the foundation for a love of learning.

We have strong community links. One of these is with our local Woolworths, which generously donates to a community pantry at the centre where our families take what they need.

Acknowledging and learning from the Kaurna people means a lot to us. And so, our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) intends to pass love and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures along to children in our care. We encourage them all to engage in the Acknowledgement of Land each morning.

Whether you want to enrol your child just a few days a week or are looking for a full-time place, do not hesitate to pick up the phone or book a tour. We can't wait to meet your family.

Learn more about Goodstart Burton

  • At Goodstart Burton, our philosophy centres around the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own interests and strengths. We embrace a play-based learning approach that nurtures curiosity and creativity, allowing children to explore their world in meaningful ways.

    We prioritise:

    1. Holistic Development: Supporting cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth through engaging and developmentally appropriate activities.
    2. Family and Community Engagement: Building strong partnerships with families and the community to create a supportive network for each child.
    3. Inclusive Environment: Celebrating diversity and ensuring that all children feel valued, respected, and included.
    4. Lifelong Learning: Instilling a love of learning by encouraging exploration, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners.

  • Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.

Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.

We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

  • At our Burton centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified early childhood experts. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our preschool program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start reception.

  • At Goodstart, we believe all children deserve the best possible start in life, which includes access to high-quality early childhood education and care. We offer:

    • Discounts on multiple days
    • All day sessions
    • Discounted shorter sessions
    • Fee assistance programs for families that need support
  • We work closely with parents to ensure the individual needs, interests and strengths of children are considered, and our learning goals reflect them. Using Storypark, a wonderful communication platform, we stay in close touch with families and ensure you're well informed about your child's development and achievements.

My daughter has been attending the nursery for over a year now. I could not be happier with the centre. All the staff from director and admin to the educators are so helpful and friendly. They always have time for a chat about your child and how they are doing. The children have planned activities they can participate in each day that build on their learning and skills. They also lots of time for free play and there’s heaps of stuff to play with. The children spend a lot of time outside which was a big plus for me. We always get photos and updates on what they have done each day. On the occasion when my child is having a bad day they will always message or call to let me know how she is doing. I feel she is in a safe, secure, loving and nurturing environment and never have mum guilt about leaving her there. She loves going there and has such special bonds with the educators.

Tamicka Jones

Centre Director

Hi, my name is Tamicka and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Burton. I currently hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Education and care have been a strong passion of mine since I started with Goodstart more than ten years ago. During my time within the education and care sector, I have strived and continued to explore new career opportunities and continued to build on my skills and knowledge to achieve my goals.

Throughout my years working in the early childhood sector, I have gained extensive knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards as well as undertaking extensive research in other early childhood topics.

Program and practice are a strong passion of mine and I love to think of creative ways to explore these concepts with the children, educators, and families. I understand the value of lifelong learning which I not only promote but engage in myself.

I love to mentor and guide educators to achieve their professional goals too and believe my background in training and assessment gives me the skills and knowledge to help build education across the sector.
I look forward to meeting your children and building a strong, reciprocal relationship with your family as I believe families our primary partner and when we work together, we can achieve amazing things for your little one.
