Welcome to Goodstart Early Learning Flemington.

Our vision is to create a nurturing and inclusive community where every child is inspired to explore, learn, and grow. We are dedicated to fostering a love of learning through play, supporting the development of each child's unique potential, and building strong partnerships with families and the community.

At Goodstart Flemington we offer long daycare and kindergarten programs, and our play-based learning programs are designed to promote:

What are our Centre environments like?

We are proud to be a purpose-built centre with dedicated indoor and outdoor learning facilities tailored to each age group. Our thoughtfully designed environments include:

Native Indigenous Garden: This space highlights native plants and their importance, encouraging children to learn about biodiversity and the local ecosystem.
Bee Pollinator Garden: This garden helps children understand the critical role of pollinators in our environment, promoting awareness of conservation and ecological balance.
Thriving Chicken Coop: Our chicken coop provides hands-on experiences for children, teaching them about animal care, responsibility, and the cycle of food production.

These unique features support our commitment to environmental education, helping children connect with nature and understand their role in creating a sustainable world. By engaging with these gardens and facilities, children develop essential skills and knowledge that will inspire them to be responsible stewards of the environment.

Our centre has achieved Exceeding in all 7 National Quality Standards.
We were the winner of the Goodstarter Goodies award 2021 for “Reconciliation Together”! This recognition reflects our centre's commitment to fostering understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures and promoting reconciliation within the community.
We were the winner of the Goodstarter Goodies award for “SAFER” 2021! This accolade highlights our centre’s commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for all children, staff, and families.

Key sign language program- integrated in our kindergarten program.

We are a purpose-built centre, with dedicated indoor and outdoor learning facilities which caters to each age group. We have a Bush Tucker Garden, Native Indigenous Garden, Bee Pollinator Garden and a thriving Chicken Coup to support children not only learn about the world in which they live but also develop environmental and sustainable world knowledge.

Centre Director

Hello, My name is Mousumi Chowdhury (Sumi) and I am the centre director at Goodstart Flemington.

I have been working in this for just over 14 years. I have worked across numerous age groups, as an assistant and room leader and developed myself As an ECT in the Kinder room. I have also worked as an Educational Leader since 2021 and assisted my team to deliver high quality program where every child thrives for success.

As the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Flemington, my personal philosophy is rooted in a deep commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where children can thrive. I believe that the foundation of effective early childhood education lies in the following principles:

1.   Child-Centered Approach: I view each child as a unique individual with their own interests, strengths, and potential. It is my responsibility to create an environment that is responsive to their needs and encourages their curiosity and creativity.

2.   Empowerment through Relationships: I am passionate about building strong, trusting relationships with both children and families. I believe that when children feel safe and secure, they are more willing to explore and learn. Engaging with families as partners in their child's education enhances the learning experience and supports a sense of community.

3.   Quality and Continuous Improvement: High-quality early childhood education is essential for children's development. I am dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence within our centre, encouraging staff collaboration and professional growth. By reflecting on our practices and seeking feedback, we can continually improve our programs and the experiences we offer.

4.   Play as the Heart of Learning: I believe that play is fundamental to children's learning and development. I advocate for providing rich, engaging, and stimulating environments where children can explore, experiment, and develop critical thinking skills through play.

5.   Diversity and Inclusion: I am committed to embracing diversity in all its forms and ensuring that our centre is a welcoming space for all families. By valuing different cultures, perspectives, and abilities, we create a richer learning environment that benefits everyone.

6.   Lifelong Learning for All: My philosophy extends beyond the children to include educators and families. I believe in fostering a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. By providing opportunities for professional development and family engagement, we can cultivate a community of learners that inspires one another.

In my role as Centre Director, I am dedicated to leading by example, promoting a positive, collaborative atmosphere that encourages everyone to contribute to our vision of high-quality early childhood education. Together, we can support every child's journey towards lifelong learning and success.

After moving house and having looked at many childcare centres I came across Goodstart Flemington and haven't looked back. The staff here are all welcoming, warm and professional. Many have completed postgraduate studies and it shows in their superior approach to care and education. Since attending this childcare my son has improved immensely in all areas of his development and I couldn't be more grateful. The centre is so well setup with three extra large outdoor play areas, lots of play equipment a veggie patch, even a chicken coop! They provide a variety of nutritious meals, all cooked each day from scratch. The kids love it!. My son never comes home hungry. There are frequent incursions, excursions, daily photos, informal and formal parent/teacher discussions and even annual visits from a dental service. The educators in my son's room have gone above and beyond in supporting him develop. The best part is he loves going to there to see them and his friends. He often hurries me up to go!. Well done to the entire Goodstart team. We are so glad to have found this amazing place.
