About our centre

Welcome to Goodstart Horsham, located on Wotjobaluk Country.

Our Centre’s vision:

For children to have the learning, development and wellbeing outcomes that they need for school and life, regardless of their cultural background, family circumstances or their inclusion support needs. All children in our care are supported to reach their full potential and are empowered to embrace their identity, culture and individuality.

Our key educator approach:

Our key educator approach is developing warm, caring and responsive relationships that are meaningful and genuine. Attention is given to building connections and maintaining them over time. Building positive relationships between educators and children to help children feel secure, freeing them to explore, play and learn which offers opportunities for children to learn how to interact with others, respect others’ rights.

Our environments:

All our spaces are child focused, aesthetically pleasing, homely, inclusive and promote competence and support exploration and play-based learning. Designed with the children, their needs and interests in mind.

Our outdoor playground areas are a balance of natural and manmade elements and play surfaces – with sandpits, digging patches, pergola, gardens and lots of shade. We have carefully designed and planned spaces to encourage a stronger understanding of the environment and sustainability – while giving children the scope to explore, play and let their imaginations roam.

What makes our centre special:

We are proud of our long-standing centre team some of whom have been at the centre for 20 years and have even more experience than that in the industry. We are a family focused service, and previous families describe us as an extension of their own family – we will always go above and beyond to support our families with a strong focus on social and emotional wellbeing.

Additional programs we offer:

  • Swimming lessons for an entire term for our funded 3 & 4YO children at no cost to families
  • Monthly nursing home visits
  • Regular incursions and excursions, including: Bunnings, Declan the Music Man, responsible pet ownership, road safety, African drumming, offsite outdoor learning at the pond and Botanical Gardens to name a few.
  • We host our annual end of year celebratory get together with and for families and children!

Jodie Rabl

Centre Director

Hi, I’m Jodie and I am the Centre Director here at Goodstart Early Learning Horsham.

Tell us more about yourself:
I am a mother of 3, all of whom have come through the centre in their younger years. I have been at Goodstart Horsham since 2010, starting as a student and casual educator while studying my cert 3. Since then, I have worked in all age rooms, with a soft spot for the nursery and 4YO kinder rooms. I am also a bachelor trained ECT and was the Assistant Director for many years before taking on the official role of Centre Director in October 2024.

What is your early childhood philosophy?
I believe that children need to be given every opportunity to think for themselves, develop their ability to make choices, problem solve and ask questions, as well as allowing children to pursue their interests and abilities in a range of learning experiences.I believe that we need to work in partnerships with families to collaborate about curriculum decisions in order to ensure learning experiences are meaningful for children.

I believe in promoting children’s learning through worthwhile, challenging experiences and interactions that foster high level skills and extend children’s thinking and learning.

What do you love most about your centre?
I love the family/community that we have created and the close relationships that we have formed with our enrolled families. I also love that families feel connected enough to trust us to be their most vulnerable with us and seek out/accept our support and guidance.

What are some of your goals as a Centre Director?
To create an environment that builds respectful and reciprocal relationships with families and the wider community that responds to the individual needs and expectations of our most important stakeholders.
To provide a safe, healthy, supportive, engaging and inclusive environment for each child and family.

What do you think children and families will experience at your center?
High quality education and care from an established team of passionate professionals who always have family and children’s needs at the forefront, as well as learning environments and programs that will give children the best possible start to the first five years of their learning and development journeys, creating the foundations to create positive futures and a lifelong love of learning.
