Goodstart Merriwa

Goodstart Merriwa is located off Marmion Avenue and is situated in a residential area on the expanding north coast, close to local schools and shops. We have a large car park providing ample parking as well as disabled parking for families and visitors to our Centre.

Merriwa means a good (Mooditj) place for the local the Whadjuk peoples. We are respectful in acknowledging, valuing, and emerging our local Whadjuk and many our cultures that make up our community, our team and our families into our daily practices and engagements.

We strive towards our community connections collaborating as we continuously support and serve our families by creating an awareness of community support services available to them and their children.

Our service caters for children from birth to five years. Our play based, stimulating child derived curriculum has been developed on the early years learning framework. Our rooms and learning environments are inviting, warm and engaging to capture all children’s interests, and are enhanced with elements of nature, while building on their developmental milestones. Our educators are continuously supporting the children in achieving their learning outcomes.

At Goodstart our focus is building relationships with children and families through the Key Educator approach. We do this through focusing on relationships where the key educator role is visible, and deep relationships are the priority and carefully planned for. Educators work together as a team to reflect, consider, and make informed relationship-based decisions before acting. Children sense that educators are truly present with them, educators know who the children are and what they really need from educators, and they are individually responsive to the family.

Through our sustainable plan on reducing, recycling and re-purposing, our curriculum program planning platform of Storypark enables us to maintain consistent communication with families and share children’s learning, while reducing our carbon footprint and paper waste. This leading industry program allows you to see your child/ren's learning experiences, and provides opportunities for you to interact and communicate providing input with educators about your child’s learning and development.

We have a qualified Cook who provides fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for the children, providing breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack every day. We also reach out to families to provide suggestions towards menu updates for our winter and summer menus.

We pride ourselves through all these connections, which strengthens a shared approach to life learning and a sense of belonging for our children, families and community connections and shared centre information and events.
