Goodstart Early Learning has been working hard and is thrilled to deliver the Federal Government’s 10% wage increase to our dedicated Educators, Teachers, Centre Directors, Assistant Directors, Cooks, and Administration Assistants.
This increase, effective from 2 December 2024, reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening wages in early childhood education – and our commitment to supporting the wellbeing and recognition of our team members.
Background on the Federal Government’s Wage Increase
In August 2024, the Federal Government announced a 15% wage increase for early childhood professionals, aimed at raising the sector’s wage standards to better reflect the value and importance of the work done by our Educators, Teachers, Centre Directors and support staff.
The 15% pay rise will be phased in over two years, starting with a 10% increase on the current award rate from December 2024, with a further 5% increase on the current award rate from December 2025.
Early learning providers do not automatically qualify for this increase. Eligibility depends on meeting specific requirements, including having an approved workplace instrument, agreeing to fee increase caps while receiving the Government funding, and a detailed application process that Goodstart has proudly completed.
How the wage increase works at Goodstart
Starting on 2 December 2024, all eligible Goodstart Educators, Teachers, Centre Directors, Assistant Directors, Cooks, and Administration Assistants will receive a 10% wage increase based on the award rate. And there’s even more good news – at Goodstart, we already go beyond the award. In addition to this 10% increase, we will continue to pay above the award rate for our Educators, Teachers, Cooks, Assistant Directors, and Centre Directors, as part of our long-standing commitment to support and reward our centre teams’ dedication.
