About our centre

Goodstart Merrylands is located on Richardson Street in a residential area in Merrylands. We are within walking distance to Hilltop Road shops, Hilltop Road Public School, bus stops, and Merrylands pools.

We offer care to children aged 15months to 5 years and have two early learning spaces offering a play-based curriculum. Our team of early childhood professionals provide quality programmes based on play and children's interests, allowing them to develop physical, social, emotional, creative, cognitive and language skills, as well as learning life skills.

At Goodstart Merrylands we are committed to increasing our knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. Our vision is to respectfully embed a love for learning that allows children and educators to embark on a continued learning journey to further their knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and ways of being.
Our vision for reconciliation is for our educators, children and community of families to engage with reconciliation on both a personal and professional level, creating the conditions that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ social justice, equality and equity.
Through this vision, we are laying the foundations to grow future generations that value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritages as a proud part of a shared identity.
At Goodstart Merrylands, we offer a government-assessed and approved preschool program. This curriculum is designed as a part of the Australian government's early years learning framework and it's delivered by bachelor-qualified early childhood teachers. This early education program applies across the country with school readiness in mind.
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one key educator who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. We keep families informed with regular updates on their child's progress and we welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

Hello there! My name is Nancy and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Merrylands.

My name is Nancy Fowler and I have the honour of leading a beautiful, warm and inclusive community here in Merrylands on Darug land. I have a passion for early education with a focus in inclusive practices to assist all children in reaching their full potential.

My background
I started my journey with Goodstart in 2007 after completing my Diploma in Children’s Services. Since then, I have expanded my knowledge and skills through on the job training and also through further study. I completed my Bachelor of Education in 2013 and have continuously improved myself within leadership positions.

My personal philosophy
I believe relationships with families, children and my team is the key to success. The first 5 years of a child’s life is crucial, and as an Early Childhood Teacher, I strive to provide all children what they need to succeed prior to them transitioning to primary school.

What I love about Goodstart Merrylands
Merrylands is such a unique and diverse centre. I love how as soon as you walk in the door, you feel a sense of belonging and are greeted with a friendly face and cuddles each morning.

As a Centre Director, I aim to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for every child and their family. I aspire to offer an inclusive and individualised program where allied health professionals are welcomed into our space to assist your child and our educators in implementing inclusive practices to assist all children.
