About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Braddon is an 84-place early learning centre conveniently located in Braddon, two kilometres north of Canberra CBD. we are within walking distance to the city centre, Haig Park, cafes and shops and public transport. Our service provides play-based learning, where our highly experienced and qualified team cater to each child’s stage of development, from ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Our curriculum is based around the Early Years Learning Framework, providing play-based learning within natural learning environments where our educational program focuses on each child’s individual needs, interests, and strengths, making learning an enjoyable experience for all children.

Goodstart Braddon provides a nurturing family-like environment for all children entrusted in our care and their families. We recognise that family is the most important and influential aspect in the lives of young children and the significance of this relationship cannot be underestimated. Through our partnerships and strong relationships with families, we will work towards complementing the home environment and creating a ‘second home’ where all educators, children and their families feel safe, secure, loved, respected, and nurtured, ensuring each child has a strong sense of identity and trust.

We focus on ensuring all children are given the best support to ensure a smooth transition from early learning to school, paying attention to social and emotional wellbeing, as well as literacy and numeracy skills. The program at Goodstart Braddon is guided by the children, developing their interests, and extending these through opportunities and experiences provided by our educators. This learning will embrace each child’s individuality, while fostering their growth. Our curriculum reflects the knowledge that children are active participants and collaborators, allowing for more individualistic and meaningful involvement by each child.

We at Goodstart Braddon recognise the importance of community, both in and out of the service. We believe that children should feel connected to Place and support them to understand and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the first and traditional owners of this land, through exploration and interaction with our local community.

We embrace the cultural diversity within our service and value and respect families and the local community, pledging to work alongside them to provide children with avenues to “Be”, “Belong” and “Become”. We have a strong sense of community as we connect with our local community to enhance children's inclusion, learning and wellbeing to support children to be active participants in their world. We have highly qualified educators and Bachelor qualified teachers across the service, ensuring your child is provided the best learning possible.

Goodstart Braddon is truly a fantastic environment for children of all ages, cultures, developmental levels, and temperaments! This spectacular childcare centre is a wonderful way to educate your child in a fun, friendly, professional, and nurturing environment.

Krystle Peace

Centre Director

Hello! My name is Krystle Peace and I’m the Centre Director at Goodstart Braddon.

A little bit about me: I am married, a mother of two teenage daughters and one fluffy cat. I grew up in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, surrounded by bushland. I have been a dancer since I was four years old, though finding the time to take classes these days is quite the challenge! I am an avid reader. Books are my one true love and you will never find me without one. I drink too much coffee and am a lover of terrible jokes.

Career wise, I am a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and began teaching in 2008. During my time as an ECT I have taught every age group from our Nursery aged children up to Preschool, supporting our children to become excited about starting ‘big school’.

I moved into my role as a Centre Director in 2017 as I wanted to be a bigger part of helping to create strong, happy teams to run the best possible early childhood education experience for children. I have been with Goodstart since January 2019, since moving from Sydney to Melbourne and now to the ACT with my family.

I am extremely passionate about providing the highest quality education and care for children and strongly believe that this can only occur with solid partnerships between centre and families. I want our service to feel like a second home to not just the children, but also to their families and of course our team of Educators.

Effective communication is so important to me. As a parent, I think – what do I want to know when it comes to my children? The answer to that is everything! I will always aim to be available to you to be as communicative as possible with you all.

I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.
