About our centre
Goodstart Cooranbong is a 39 place Centre located in the city of Lake Macquarie, west of Morisset.
We have 2 rooms at our Centre, and we take children from 12 months to 6 years.
Our Centre provides a warm, child led learning environment where each child is set up for succession, regardless of their needs and desires. Each child is encouraged to extend on their interests, investigate in education and play and become their true self.
Both our indoor and outdoor learning environments are progressive and programmed following the Early Years Learning Framework, Pedagogical Practices, children’s emerging interests and age-appropriate developmental milestones. We encourage children to partake in risky play experiences, messy play experiences, science experiments, group/collaborative play and intentional teaching group times.
Our Centre provides 5 meals per day- breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack. We have a cook who prepares meals for the children, and we can cater for any dietary requirements.
Our highly trained Educators, inclusive of Trainees, Certificate 3, Diploma and Qualified Teachers are extremely passionate about quality education and care. We are passionate about creating an environment that is welcoming, ensures that children feel a sense of belonging & security and invites family and community collaboration.

Maddison Pethybridge
Centre Director
My name is Maddison, and I have the pleasure of being your Centre Director here at Goodstart Cooranbong.
I have been the Centre Director at Goodstart Cooranbong since January 2024.
Previous to this role, I have worked as a business development Manager in the Disability Sector and before that I have been in Early Education working in Early Childhood and in the Early Intervention Space. I am so passionate about Early Education & Care and take pride in leading a Centre where children feel a sense of security and safety.
My Early Learning values:
I strongly believe that every single child is deserving- no matter their learning needs.
Early Education & Care should be about ensuring children are supported to be themselves, have the platform for Education and be encouraged to progress their inquisitive minds, be amongst Educations who nurture & guide emotional regulation, and have the space to form meaningful relationships and grow confidence.
Our Centre Approach:
At Goodstart Early Learning, we take a child-led approach.
This encompasses learning holistically, so that we ensure our child’s interests are a part of their short-, medium- and long-term goals. We work collaboratively with children, families, health professionals and local community stakeholders to ensure our children are educated and cared for in a panoramic way. At our Centre we are passionate about setting all children up to succeed- we ensure our indoor and outdoor environments are reflective of children’s needs and adapt a progressive routine in rooms.
A little more about me:
When I am not in the Centre, you’ll find me travelling, finding new places to eat yummy food, exercising and spending time with my Fiancé’! I also don’t mind a binge-worth reality tv show and a cheese board on a Friday night!
I look forward to meeting with you and your family and showing you through the Centre. You’ll get to know the individualised Education & Care we can offer your child/ren at the Centre and see how extremely passionate I am about embedding high quality practices into our Centre.

As a Centre Director, my goal is to ensure that you & your child feel comfortable, trust and enjoy attending the Centre each day. I aim to ensure we have a safe, nurturing & adaptive learning environment, where every single child is heard. My goal is to ensure that every single child has the platform to be themselves and is celebrated individually whilst building connections, emotional maturity and academic platforms for life.
