About our centre
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Kincumber was built in June 1995 and is licensed to care for 76 children each day. We are tucked into an industrial area making us a convenient and accessible centre for parents, especially when doing the daily pick-up and drop-off.
Our rooms – Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool – cater for children aged six weeks to five years. We develop our curriculum in line with the Early Years Learning Framework, also working closely with parents and families to ensure the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths are factored into the daily activities.
Our child care centre has a team of qualified and dedicated educators in each room, many of whom have worked at the centre for many years. We all share the philosophy that Early Childhood Education plays an important role in the development of every child. We focus on creating a happy, relaxed, non-threatening environment with flexible daily routines that promote confidence and encourage independence.
We believe that families play a major role in the development of their child. Through trust and the sharing of information between parents and educators we will ensure continuity of care for children. Our aim being for both children and parents is to feel secure and comfortable in our centre’s environment.
Inside, our rooms are set up daily to ensure a stimulating environment and outside, we have shaded, spacious playgrounds, with soft fall areas, a vege patch, and under cover verandas. We cater to children with additional needs and have free-flowing indoor-outdoor access.

Hi, I’m Stephanie Penfold and I’m the Centre Director here at Goodstart Kincumber.
I have been the Centre Director at Goodstart Kincumber since February this year (2025).
I hold a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and take great joy and satisfaction in overseeing the educational programs, best practice and safe running of our children’s centres.
I have been in the Early Childhood Industry for over 15 years and owned and directed my own service’s back in the UK. I have many years of experience working with children 0-5 years and a background in Occupational Therapy.
My Early Learning values:
I firmly believe in the power if a positive attitude and work to help children view their education positively. I want parents to feel assured that their children are in a safe and motivating environment, allowing them to focus on their day with peace of mind.
Children’s first impressions of education (early education) mark the way for their future. I feel truly blessed to be able to be a part of so many lives, aiding development along the way. Children need warm and trusting relationships in predictable, safe and nurturing environments and it’s a heartwarming to be able to implement this.
What I love about our community:
The people! The sense of belonging and the support our community provides. Our community provides collaborative working allowing us to uplift each other, share experiences and celebrate our children and families within it.
A little more about me:
When I’m not in the centre, you’ll find me spending time with my family, my two active boys and my husband. Most likely at the beach or the local skate park.
