About our centre

Welcome to Goodstart Bundoora - Bendoran Crescent

We play and learn on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples.

At our lovely little centre, we keep our numbers small to prioritise the connections we've built with our families and community. We're huge fans of outdoor learning and play; passing on respect and awareness of our natural world is one of our values.  

Our fish pond and stick insects will be a treat if you have a future biologist, our community garden will be exciting to any budding chefs, and our bush kinder program is perfect for everyone!

  • Bush kinder is an outdoor education program recognised by ACEEQA. We love it because children learn while they do what comes naturally: run, jump, play in puddles, climb trees, jump off rocks and explore. It also teaches them various vital social and emotional skills like resilience, critical thinking, and how to assess risk safely. 

    We also take bush walks whenever possible and join the community garden across the road from our centre. There are so many amazing outdoor adventures and learning opportunities to be had!  

  • Our outdoor space is split into two yards. One yard suits our nursery and toddler rooms, while the second is occupied by our kinder kids. The yards are separated to keep everyone safe and ensure access to a balanced level of age-appropriate risky play, quiet spaces and sensory play.  

    Inspired by the EYLF, the children actively care for the environment. Keeping the space as natural as possible, the children engage in regular upkeep, from planting fruit, vegetables, herbs, and spices to disposing of waste correctly and supporting educators in routine safety checks. 

  • Our outdoor space is split into two yards, with one of the yards occupied by our kinder children. Their outdoor space is set up intentionally to support age-appropriate learning. Separating the spaces also helps children get used to the idea that they'll move on to school. In addition to the relationships, we build with our local primary school through the community garden, we also provide a school orientation in term 4 for any kinder kids starting Prep.

  • Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote Key Educator relationships between our educators and children.   

    Your child will have at least one Key Educator who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. We keep families informed with regular updates on their child's progress and we welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

Hayley Greeves

Centre Director

Hi there, my name is Hayley. I am the centre director at Goodstart Bundoora- Bendoran Cresent, located on Wurundjeri Land.

I have been with Goodstart Early Learning for 20 years, I have spent 18 of those years as centre director at various goodstart centres.  

I hold my Diploma in Ealy Childhood and am currently studying a Diploma in community services (as this is one of my passions). Through this study I strive to strengthen my community connections and create a space to be able to support families with seeking community support.  

I believe in leading my team through creating safe environments, open discussions and empowering my team to share their strengths, building learning relationships and working collaboratively.  

In relation to children, I strive to create environments where children are included in decision making, empowering the exploration of autonomy and inclusivity. Children are capable beings, and this is the vision I share with my team.  

Inclusivity and equality are two of my core values, we implement these values through creating environments that meet the needs and requirements of all families and children, from different walks of life.    

To ensure duty of care is upheld, I continue to empower my team to build trusting relationships with the families and engage in a collaborative partnership. Families are encouraged to share their views, ideas and input, while also being welcome at the centre to share their culture and heritage.  

Concepts such as ‘Key Educator Relationships’ are put in place to ensure relationships between families, educators and children are being nourished daily. As we aim to empower children to grow into capable adults, we engage in other ideas such as ‘Stive For Five’, this includes asking the children open ended questions and expanding on their input.  

My leaderships style is shaped by The Victorian Child Safe Standards, National Law and Regulations and the National Quality Standards. All curriculum is influenced by Children’s Developmental Milestones, Early Years Learning Framework, Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, family input and child interest.
