Marrie Mather takes up her position as centre director at the new Goodstart Clearview centre today, bringing with her many years of dedication and experience in early learning.
The new purpose-built centre opens today, October 29, and features plenty of natural outdoor elements such as a sand pit, timber bench seating, creek bed and stepping stones.
Clearview, which is opposite the new Lightsview residential and retail development, will offer spaces for 108 children, just eight kilometres from Adelaide’s city centre.
After 11 years with Goodstart, and a career which has seen her progress from an educator to centre director, Ms Mather’s focus is on ensuring Clearview offers children and their families the best experience possible.
“I’ve been really busy training my new team in Key Educator over the past few weeks. Key Educator will be a focus in the centre because I truly believe it will allow us to offer our families a wonderful early learning experience,” Ms Mather said.
Goodstart has committed to working towards Key Educator relationships in all centres to promote continuity and consistency through nurturing relationships between educators and children individually and in small groups.
Key educators give families and children one or two people in the centre who are deeply connected to the child, their development, their rituals and their specific needs.
“I’m moving from a centre with 37 places to one with 108 places so that will provide me with a challenge I’m really looking forward to,” Ms Mather said. “And Key Educator offers us the opportunity to really help families, provide really strong support and encourage reciprocal relationships within the centre,” she said.
Features of the new Clearview centre also include toddler and pre-kinder and kindergarten dining areas, a large modern layout and a great natural environment. Plenty of trees, vegetable patches and outdoor musical instruments will provide the children with space to explore.
“There is solar power, a water tank and lots of opportunities to continue our sustainability journey with the children in order to offer them great outcomes and skills for later life.”
Goodstart SA state manager Paula Pittam said Clearview had been developed to truly support children to reach their potential.
“The facility is designed to provide children with the opportunity to interact with their peers in many different shared areas – both indoor and outdoor," she said.
"Everyone on the team has worked incredibly hard over the past eight weeks to ensure the centre was ready to open and provide much-needed education and care for children in Adelaide's inner north east."
