Goodstart Kyneton

Goodstart Early Learning Centre Kyneton is located in a quiet residential area, across the road from a beautiful park and oval, and close to local schools and town center.

We are a small, 73 placed centre with three rooms, catering for children from six weeks to five years of age. Our Nursery room has its own outdoor play space, while the 2-3s and Kinder children share a spacious natural play space. We also have a team of wonderful, dedicated educators and highly experienced bachelor qualified kinder teacher who all pride themselves on our warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Our centre plays an important role in the lives of our families, and we strive to ensure they feel a sense of belonging, encouraging their input and promoting an open-door policy.

Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery (0-2), learning space two (2-3) and our kinder (4-5)- are environments purposefully set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory and play-based learning. 

Our Government approved Kinder program offers all the benefits and more of standalone kinders, with the added bonus of continuing throughout school holidays. Our children throughout the service also have loads of opportunities to go into the wider community, with weekly visits to the local library, baby walks using our 6-seater prams to explore our surroundings, and utilizing the oval located opposite the centre for games, sporting activities and more. Every year, we also offer a variety of incursions and excursions to provide another level of learning and development for all ages. 

Our Storypark platform, weekly newsletters, family feedback book, as well as our social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) enable us to connect with parents, families and the wider community. Our Key educator approach allows our educators to develop a deeper connection with children and families, strengthening our programs and focusing on child’s individual needs, interests and strengths. We promote an inclusive environment, and have a published Reconciliation Action Plan and Social Inclusion Plan. Each morning our centre gathers for our Acknowledgement of country for the Taungurung people who are the traditional custodians of our land which we play, learn and work. This creates a strong level of cultural diversity throughout our centre.

Goodstart Kyneton also has a strong focus on sustainability, and we maintain a recycling program where we utilize used materials (such as boxes) as part of our ongoing art and craft activities. Our centre also takes pride in our embedded sustainability practices which include the use of a recycled water tank for our raised vegetable garden beds, using our food scraps to develop our worm farm and the use of our organic bins. Children from the nursery through to kinder are all provide weekly opportunities to care for our gardens, and enjoy trying the different produce which we grow.  We have incorporated a lot of nature activities into our learning programs to allow the children to learn about the environment.

We have a cook on premises five days a week and we provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. All of our meals are created following the nutrition Australia guidelines making them healthy and nutritious, and are served on a 4-weekly basis to offer variety. Our cook also caters for children who have allergies to certain foods, and all of our educators are all fully trained in first aid and anaphylaxis.

We are actively involved in our local community providing open days throughout the year, centre celebrations and fund raisers for various causes. We have links with the local maternal child health centre and inclusion agencies, are part of the smiles for miles dental program, and are a recognized SunSmart service.
