Diversity and Inclusion Programs at Goodstart

At Goodstart, we are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.

We believe that by embracing diversity, we create an environment where every child and every Goodstarter feels a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing.

We recognise the richness that diversity of thought, ideas and opinions can bring to our daily work practice and encourage and provide the opportunity for the voices of our team members to be heard.

First Nations Programs

We are dedicated to reconciliation by fostering personal and professional engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Our programs aim to promote social justice and equity and help build a future where the culture of our first people is valued, woven through all that we do within our organisation and celebrated as part of our shared identity.

Opportunities include:

  • First Nations Community of Practice, growing and deepening cultural awareness and understanding
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traineeships & Internships
  • Yarnin Circles where First Nations team members connect and collaborate
  • Cultural Immersion programs offering educators the chance to live and work in a remote Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community

 Male Educator Community of Practice

We recognise the important role male educators play in the lives of children and advocate for and encourage more men to join early childhood education.  We support male educators to connect, share knowledge and grow professionally.

LGBTQIA+ Community of Practice

We are committed to creating an inclusive and safe workplace where everyone can be themselves. Our LGBTQIA+ Community of Practice brings together LGBTQIA+ Goodstarters and allies to connect, share experiences, and advocate for a workplace where safety and inclusion are priorities. We aim to foster a "rainbow safe space" that ensures everyone feels supported and valued. Opportunities include networking events and other initiatives that strengthen connections and contribute to a more inclusive environment for all.

Diverse Abilities Community of Practice

Our community empowers Goodstarters with diverse abilities, both physical and neurological, to drive positive change. This is done through networking, education and advocacy to improve knowledge of leaders and uplift environments to best support all Goodstarters within their role.

Culturally and Linguistically diverse Community of Practice

We celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, lived experiences and backgrounds of all Goodstarters, and strive to create workplaces that are culturally inquisitive and inclusive for both our team, our children and families who attend our Early Learning Centres.

Join the team at Goodstart, where you can be yourself, feel included, and make a real difference in your local community.
